１９４０年に作られたこの曲は、その後Frank SinatraやElvis Presleyなどによっても歌われ、また映画「バッファロー６６('98)」「マリーアントワネット('06)」の挿入歌として登場するなど、多くの人に愛されるポピュラーソングです。
邦題「恋は愚かと言うけれど」
曲名“Fools rush in"は“急いては事をしそんじる”と言う諺。
この曲を私が初めて聴いたのはDoris Dayの歌声。
PianoとのDuoでVerse部分から丁寧に美しく歌っています。
「♪頭で考えるより、突っ走って貴方のもとへやって来たわ。危険だと分かっている。賢者のいかないところ。でも賢者は決して恋に落ちたりしないでしょ。そんな人たちには分からないわ。どうかこの愚か者の為に、貴方の心を開いて・・・」と歌われる曲。
愚か者だと分かっているけれど、とどまっていることが出来ず走り出してしまう心。
その素直な気持ちがJohnny Mercerの詞によって優しく描かれているこの曲が好きで、歌っています。
