Sinatraのどこまでも伸びる歌声はこの曲の空を飛ぶイメージにピッタリ。
彼が新しいレコード会社と契約、新天地にて再出発したアルバム「Come fly with me」の中にて発表された曲です。
飛行機会社とタイアップにて製作されたアルバムと言う事もあり、収録曲は「April in Paris」「Blue Hawaii」「Chicago」「Brazil」等々。
世界各地が描かれた曲が取り上げられ、旅の雰囲気満載です。
そんなアルバムのタイトル曲（オリジナル曲）。
彼にとって、新しいレコード会社での出発は、正に人生における「新しい旅」への出発でもあったのでしょうね。

1958年製作の曲ですが、いつまでも色褪せることなく、近年でも映画やCMで使われている有名曲です。
この曲を作曲したJimmy Van Heusenはエミー賞やアカデミー賞などを何度も受賞する有名作曲家。ですが、音楽家としてまだ売れなかった若かりし時代、テストパイロットをしていた経験があるとの事。
